Fuel3D Opens San Francisco Office
June 05, 2015
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – Fuel3D, a developer of 3D scanning solutions, announced today that it has opened a new US office in San Francisco. With its headquarters in North Carolina, Fuel3D’s newest location at 795 Folsom Street is the company’s second US office and will host Fuel3D Labs, the company’s business to business division, allowing greater access to key customers located in Silicon Valley. In addition, the San Francisco office will host Fuel3D’s West Coast sales department and the company plans to hire key personnel in the San Francisco Bay area throughout 2015.
“We are excited to grow our presence in Silicon Valley, as this is where several of Fuel3D Labs’ top customers are headquartered,” said Stuart Mead, CEO, Fuel3D. “We have grown rapidly since our launch in 2013 and the introduction of our first consumer scanner product earlier this year. Building a presence in San Francisco is the natural next step in the evolution of our company.”
Fuel3D’s move to San Francisco comes on the heels of increasing industry demand for the company’s proprietary 3D scanning platform, which can be used in applications across a range of industry sectors and excels in the capture of the human form. Through its commercial unit, Fuel3D Labs, the company works with brands to access, build, develop and commercialize custom 3D scanning applications that give them a competitive advantage in their markets.
Focus areas for Fuel3D Labs include:
Customization (e.g. prosthetics, orthotics, custom-fit consumer products)
Personalization (e.g. virtual try-on, personalized jewelry)
Visualization (e.g. gaming, visual effects, biometrics)
Digitalization (e.g. heritage preservation, 3D printing)
Since generating worldwide attention through a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2013, Fuel3D has secured millions in private investment and signed retail and distribution partners across the world in support of the commercial launch of SCANIFY. The company’s handheld, point-and-shoot 3D scanner was built to enable consumers and professionals to 3D scan objects in high-resolution shape and color in under 0.1 seconds. U.S. retail availability was announced earlier this month. The San Francisco office will complement existing consumer sector sales, operations and finance teams located on the East Coast.
