Dr Sam White

Over the past 10 years Sam has developed a comprehensive knowledge of the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sciences. In 2004, he graduated with 1st Class Honours from Cardiff University with a Master of Pharmacy. During his degree he was awarded a Wellcome Trust research studentship at King’s College London to develop novel ultra-flexible liposome drug delivery systems. Sam conducted his BBSRC-sponsored PhD research at the Centre for Polymer Therapeutics (Cardiff University), which under Professor Ruth Duncan’s directorship had translated six anti-cancer conjugates and two polymer imaging agents from laboratory to clinical trial. During his PhD he spent several months at EPFL in Switzerland and CIPF in Valencia, Spain. Sam’s interest in the commercialisation of research led him to enter a team for the Biotechnology Young Entrepreneurs Scheme and undertake an internship at AstraZenca where he worked on pilot scale production of phase II anti-thrombotic drugs. Sam is registered as a pharmacist with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain.
