		Dr Peter Hotten Peter has 18 years experience as a director (in both non-executive and executive roles) in a number of diverse biologically focussed SME’s (e.g. Rowett Research Services, The Oxford Bee Company, MindWeavers, Oxford Gene Technology [OGT]). As a project manager in Isis Innovation Ltd (the University of Oxford’s technology transfer company) and more recently as OGT’s director of licensing & business development, Peter has catalysed the creation of more than a dozen start-up companies. Peter has specialised in creating and implementing IP strategy to maximise IP asset value, resulting in, for example, many multi-million dollar licensing deals. Key to all the above were negotiation skills, e.g. in moulding teams focussed on a defined purpose (the ‘business plan’) to creating financial constructs allowing win-win positions for both licensee and licensor. Combining commercial experience with a broad understanding of bio-science and technology (BSc – chemistry & microbiology; PhD in enzymology) to create successful business is the essence of Peter’s career.
