Dr Anna Obolensky
Anna has worked at the interface between technology and commerce for most of her professional life. As Senior Technical Executive in the Group Marketing Directorate of the Wellcome Foundation Headquarters in London, Anna worked at the R&D/marketing interface bringing innovative veterinary and medical pharmaceuticals to the international market, developing an in–depth understanding of the pharmaceutical market and dealing with technical inquiries from Wellcome operating units around the world. She then moved to live and work in Hong Kong, where she joined Porton International Plc. This was a newly formed biotech group acting as a commercial arm to the Centre for Applied Microbiology, Porton Down, Speywood Laboratories and L.H. Fermentation. Anna was responsible for the company’s multiple interests in the Far East. This included initiating clinical trials, importing highly specialised pharmaceuticals and biotech products into the region and setting up joint technical projects with governments and hospitals in Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Manila and other parts of the region.
Returning to the UK, Anna worked at the International Headquarters of Porton International in London before returning to academic life and completing an MSc. in Clinical Immunology at King’s College, London University and a DPhil. in Immunopathology at Keble College, Sir William Dunn School of Pathology, Oxford University.
